For extra credit some words to describe what a monochrome photograph means to you, as opposed to a colour picture.
Since my monochrome photos need as much credit as they can get I post my thoughts first.
Black and white photographs live or die in the grey areas or that is how I see them.
When I see a great monochrome photograph my mind subconsciously puts in the missing frequencies of light and for a moment I see the picture in colour, but better than a camera could produce because my mind’s eye like our real eyes cannot be matched.

I need to learn how to shoot in black and white. These photo's are wonderful - AS ALWAYS!
ReplyDeleteI should have said that the photos were taken in colour. I used Greyscale in Photoshop to reduce them to black and white.Hope that makes things clear.
ReplyDeleteI just left something for you, at "my place" today. I hope that you choose to come get it!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to make it a priority to learn to use Photoshop. I have a list of things to do, when I get out of this brace, and Photoshop is at the top!
sorry I do not understand your comment so cannot accept your gift wherever it is.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photography. I love the dark, sinister mood of the first two and the graphic quality of the third. Your framing is flawless. Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteWell done! Thought provoking and mysterious.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that first one! Very evocative. I like the flowers too -- I haven't been able to bring myself to strip the colors from the flowers yet! Maybe later in the season.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz
ReplyDeleteHon, I am so glad you decided to join us this week, THANK YOU GREG! I am sitting here in awe of the very first picture you posted. WELL DONE. It has amazing depth, and my eyes just take it all in. I could walk into the frame and just explore. All your photos this time are just great, but the first one should be framed and on a wall. WELL DONE!
Always, Carly
All great shots. I really like "Dark Invitation."
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else...these shots are really great! You need to teach us all how.
